ABACO, BAHAMAS – Once a jewel of the Bahamas, Treasure Cay faced unimaginable devastation in the wake of Hurricane Dorian. Years later, in 2025, a powerful new chapter is being written—one that promises not just recovery, but renewal. With the unwavering commitment of GreenPointe Holdings, Treasure Cay is on the path from ruin to revitalization.
The Jacksonville-based real estate developer entered a Heads of Agreement with the Bahamian government last year and has since made Treasure Cay on Great Abaco Island a primary focus. Today, the progress is undeniable, and the vision is bold.
“2025 is off to a strong start, and we’re thrilled with the progress in revitalizing Treasure Cay,” says Steve Griggs, Development Manager at GreenPointe. “We’ve engaged a team of expert consultants to guide the planning and permitting phases, paving the way to break ground later this year.”
This effort represents more than just construction—it’s the resurrection of a cherished destination for both residents and visitors. Here's where the future of Treasure Cay is headed:
Environmental Stewardship at the Core
GreenPointe is working hand-in-hand with BRON, a respected Bahamian environmental consultancy, to secure all required environmental approvals. In collaboration with the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection, this process ensures Treasure Cay’s transformation protects the natural beauty and ecological integrity that define the Abacos.
A World-Class Marina Returns
Treasure Cay’s iconic marina is being meticulously restored with the expertise of Cummins & Cederberg, renowned for innovative marina design. Upgrades include new bulkheads and improved navigational channels. Once complete, the marina will reclaim its status as a premier hub for boaters, driving tourism and stimulating the local economy.
Phase 1: Foundations of the Future
Design firm OBMI is actively shaping the first phase of redevelopment. While exact details are still under wraps, Phase 1 will introduce a thoughtfully curated blend of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, reflecting a vision that honors Treasure Cay’s legacy while embracing its future.
Championship Golf Reimagined
GreenPointe is proud to announce the full restoration and redesign of Treasure Cay’s beloved 18-hole championship golf course. This transformation will not only elevate playability and design but also integrate the natural landscape to create an unmatched golfing experience. For long-time fans and new visitors alike, the course will be a centerpiece of Treasure Cay’s renaissance.
Building a Stronger Foundation
No revitalization effort is complete without robust infrastructure. GreenPointe is collaborating with Caribbean Civil Group, Water and Sewer Corporation, and Bahamas Power and Light to upgrade essential utilities and services. These improvements are critical for ensuring Treasure Cay is not only beautiful but also resilient and future-ready.
The Path Forward
Treasure Cay’s story is no longer one of destruction, but one of determination. With a shared vision rooted in sustainability, quality, and community, this destination is being reborn—stronger, smarter, and more vibrant than ever.
As GreenPointe prepares to break ground later this year, momentum is building and optimism is growing. The heart of Treasure Cay is beating once again.
